Finishing 2023 On A High!

Since the company’s inception in June 2021, Sherbet Donkey has been going from strength to strength and 2023 has been another record breaking year in so many ways. We’ve expanded in just about every area, except the size of the car park! With new staff, more office dogs, more clients, bigger revenue and more awards – we’re proud to say Sherbz is most certainly on the up!

Sales, SEO & Clients

Having reached £1 million turnover just over a year ago, we’re pleased to have recently passed the milestone of £2 million in SEO contracts alone before the close of this year.  The sales team have been hard at work selling websites, SEO packages, branding and PPC meaning we have more than doubled our client base in the last 12 months, all helping to add to that boost in revenue.  

We now can officially say we cover all four corners of the country with clients from Tyne and Wear to Cornwall and from Wales to Kent and whilst we may have not yet broken into the international market, who knows what 2024 will bring? We’ve certainly been making sure we’re noticed here in the UK this year.

This year has seen us nailing down our internal processes and communication to deal with the increased growth, so we can continue to deliver the best results possible in 2024,” said Katie, Head of SEO. 

Some of our success stories this year have seen Aluminium Online gain £1.57 m in total sales, a 1,162 keyword position movement with 73 tracked keyword rankings. Gateway2Lease have had 1.3k keyword position movement and an improved 137k total sessions in nine months, and MAC have had over 25k organic clicks in the last 12 months, a 164% increased in organic traffic since starting SEO with us! 

Awards

Not only have our figures gone up, but so has our recognition as a company in terms of award winning. We have won the Award of Excellence in the West Midlands for Finest Digital Marketing Agency and the West Midlands Media Innovator award for Best Digital Marketing Agency earlier this year, as well as Top Web Development and Top SEO Services in the Goodfirms Awards.

We’ve been shortlisted for several other awards, but more recently, we scooped the Best Startup Business category in the North Worcestershire Business Awards – all going to prove that the world around is starting to sit up and take notice of what Sherbz is doing to make waves in the world of digital marketing.  

Staff and office dogs

This year has seen us hire eighteen new members of staff across every department of the company, and we’re starting to strain at the seams of how many team members the office can hold, let alone how many cars the car park can hold. The explosion in the number of clients we’ve signed up for new websites and SEO packages has meant we’ve needed more SEO specialists and an expansion of the content team – not to mention adding to the design and development teams to design and build the websites.

You can meet our ever-expanding team on our new website’s gallery. Rumour has it Loki has set the goal of more than doubling our staff and turnover in the next year – with the possibility of a move to a bigger building to accommodate all the additional desks (and car parking spaces) we’ll need.  

The number of staff isn’t the only thing that’s grown this year, as more of our team have begun bringing in their doggos. Some have even purchased puppies this year, making getting doggy cuddles possible on a daily basis and keeping everyone entertained – whilst needing to keep lunches out of reach of some! 

New website!

The biggest event on the Sherbz calendar was the launch of our own all-singing, all-dancing website that was months in the making, but so worth the wait when it went live in October.  

“Our original brand didn’t show Sherbz’s full potential or represent us accurately as a business – this donkey had grown to become a very different animal since our original brand was launched. We wanted to create something that better represented our mission and values – empowering businesses with exceptional marketing, stunning websites and engaging content to skyrocket leads and smash sales. How could we promise that when our brand wasn’t representative of our mission at all?” said Kate, our Head of Design.  

We chose to keep the original orange and teal of our existing brand and expand it with complementary tones, and we chose a dynamic, creative design to reflect our company’s character with animated elements and flowing shapes. With the concerted effort of our design, development and SEO teams, and some very late nights from Kate and Andrew, the finished article is something we’re all very proud of – long may our efforts prosper! 

Fun and other shenanigans

As a team, it’s not been all nose to the grindstone this year either. We’ve had plenty of fun along the way with several lunch-and-learn sessions and some spontaneous pizza deliveries, not to mention a day of sangria and paella for lunch. Those who like to bake have shared their efforts with the team on occasion, and it has to be said we certainly appreciate our food! 

The staff had a day out at Thorpe Park in April and much fun was had by all, and we’re all looking forward to our Christmas meal at Hanbao. The first two official Sherbz babies arrived this year, with maternity leave being taken. During the year we’ve also seen various days of dressing up – such as wearing green for St Patrick’s Day and pink for the day of the Barbie Movie release. This December, we’ve got involved in putting together Christmas Child shoebox gifts for underprivileged children in other parts of the world and have much more planned for the coming year.  

Looking ahead to 2024

Whilst we’re looking forward to a bit of downtime with family and friends over our turkey and stuffing, with so much having happened in 2023, we’re excited to see what the new year will bring and hope to have even more exciting news to share in the coming months.  

A final word from our CEO, Loki – “My dreams and plans for the business are forever morphing. When we launched it in 2021, my only ambition was that we’d reach a 10-person agency. Two years on, and with nearly 40 staff members, our next aim is to double again. I have no idea what the future holds, but just that we will continue to get bigger and better – bring on 2024!”
